Northam: late-night pub punch-up sends man flying to hospital

A late-night punch-up outside a pub in the town of Northam has left a man with serious injuries and hospitalised in a critical condition.

The brawl erupted at about 9.25 pm on Friday, when two men were confronted by a gang of youths at the Commercial Hotel on Fitzgerald Street in the town about 100 kilometres east of Perth.

Police spokeswoman Barbara Crane said a 33-year-old man from Northam was flown to a hospital in Perth after the bashing.

“The other man, a 39-year old also of Northam, was taken to Northam Regional Hospital and treated for minor injuries and later discharged,” she said.

“This man is assisting police with their inquiries.”

Three men were arrested.
